From the Wind

For solo piano

Performed by Luciane Cardassi at the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity

High atop an ancient cottonwood tree on the shores of Shuswap Lake (Skwláx te Secwepemcúlecw) lives a majestic bald eagle. This piece is a sonic contemplation of that solitary figure—a musical reverie born from lazy summer days spent looking upward. Through fluid textures and soaring melodic lines, the music imagines the world through the eagle's eyes. It follows the bird as it is lifted by powerful thermal winds, charting a course where the boundaries between water, air, and sky gracefully dissolve.
